BLOODLINE OF LIES: The Teel Creek Conspiracy

CHAPTER 5: THE MORGAN LEGACY

Chapter 6 / 6

The sun was setting behind the western hills of Parker County, painting the sky in deep shades of gold, violet, and orange.

I sat on the wooden fence railing of the upper pasture, watching the herd of quarter horses graze peacefully in the warm evening light. The sound of the wind through the tall grass was deep, steady, and clean.

Lily walked up beside me, leaning her elbows against the top rail. She was taller now, her long dark hair tied back in a pony tail, her face sprinkled with freckles from hours spent under the Texas sun.

“Mom?” she asked, looking out over the valley.

“Yeah, sweetie?”

“Do you think Grandma can see this?”

I reached over and wrapped my arm around her shoulders, pulling her close against my side.

“I know she can, Lily,” I said softly. “She’s right here. In every acre, every horse, and every breath of wind.”

Lily smiled, resting her head against my chest. “I’m glad you didn’t sell the ranch.”

“I could never sell it,” I said, looking out at the vast, beautiful expanse of land stretching as far as the eye could see. “This place was built on hard work and love. People tried to twist it, tried to turn it into something ugly and greedy. But the land doesn’t belong to the lies. It belongs to the people who care for it.”

In the distance, the front porch light of the main house clicked on automatically—a warm, golden glow cutting through the gathering dusk.

No shadows. No secrets. No fear.

Just a home, rebuilt from the ground up, standing strong against the Texas night.

I held my daughter close as the first stars appeared in the clear southern sky, knowing that whatever challenges the future brought, we were grounded, we were free, and we were finally home.
